Lest we forget
Grieve for me, that my life did not end naturally,
that my plans, my hopes and dreams could not be fulfilled.
Grieve, that five minutes less or more could have saved me,
but now, my presence is gone from this world.
Grieve, that I can no longer make you laugh or call your name,
that I won’t be home tonight, tomorrow, or ever again:
Grieve, that I died young, early, before my time,
that I’ll not be wearied further by sun, wind or rain.
Remember me, for who I was and what I did,
remember what I was like when I was a kid.
Remember my quirks, my habits and funny lines,
remember me and that one outrageous fib.
Remember me, in the times I was happy,
remember me, in the times I was sad.
Remember me, for when I did things my way,
and all the good times that we’ve had.
Do not grieve for me without end,
don’t fail to restart your life again.
Remember me, and why I died before my time,
so that others might make it to their prime.

why do the young die? the loss...
"Grieve for me, that my life did not end naturally,
that my plans, my hopes and dreams could not be fulfilled."
Remember me not for the silent soul I was
The one who blended into the background
Remember me not for the one who sat at the back
And would rather hide and contemplate
Than shout out and be heard.
Remember me not for the amusement
You found in laughing at me
Remember me not for the humour
In my awkwardness, and the names
You used to describe me.
Remember me instead,
For the person you never knew.
The one who had highs and lows,
Felt happiness and sadness,
Just like you.
The one who had a whole life,
A majestic kingdom unkown to you.
Remember me as someone who was just as beautiful
As the glint of sunrise on a morning horizon.
Remember me as someone who deserved to sit
At the highest throne.
i am so sorry Poya. you had a whole life that very few cared to discover, to experience with you. i am so sorry for all the terror, the fear, the uncertainty, the turmoil, the epic battles you must have fought in your head. i am sorry that i, and no one else either, was there.
i pray that you have found peace.
in memory of the person we never knew. the person we should have known. the person we will never get to know - Poya Payandeh.
